The mission of Students for Gavin Newsom (SFGN) is to elect San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom as Lieutenant Governor of the State of California.

Our goal is to encourage high school and college students to work for a new direction in California by electing a dynamic new lieutenant governor. SFGN will accomplish this through a strong grassroots organization and a large volunteer base. We have chapters on campuses throughout California.

Mayor Newsom is running for lieutenant governor because he believes we need bold solutions and creative ideas to solve the problems facing our state. He knows our government needs to do a better job serving the citizens of California. Mayor Newsom has a strong personal commitment to honest, effective government. His impressive record on issues such as education, the environment, and investment in the new "green-collar" economy makes him the clear choice for young Californians in 2010.

Young voters and activists were a powerful force in the 2008 election. Now is our opportunity to move California in a new direction.
